Creative Kidstuff, with the help of Minnetonka-based St. David’s Center for Child & Family Development, has identified a selection of sensory and development products specifically for children on the spectrum.

MHS Shines at State

Minnetonka makes its eighth appearance at the One Act Play Festival.

Minnetonka High School (MHS) made its eighth appearance and earned its eighth Starred Performance rating, the highest honor, at the 2012 Class AA State One Act Play Festival on Feb.10. MHS theatre and English teacher John Lynn directed the stellar all-student cast and crew as they presented a 35-minute cut of Equus by Peter Shaffer. Read more »

Minnetonka elementary students bring Disney’s “101 Dalmatians” to life.

The Minnetonka School District is offering a new arts experience for its elementary students.

“This is a huge undertaking for us” says Trent Boyum, artistic director of the new project. “Our district is very dedicated to the arts, and wanted to create a new opportunity for elementary students. In order to include a large number of students we decided to produce a stage musical at each school. We’ve found a really new and innovative way to involve all of our students interested in musical theatre.” Read more »

Venue Change for Hockey Day Minnesota

Warm temperatures have forced the Lake Minnetonka event off the outdoor ice.

A warm winter isn’t always a blessing. Fans of the upcoming Hockey Day Minnesota will be saddened to know that due to our above-freezing temperatures, officials behind the event determined the ice will not be ready by Jan. 21. As a result, the three high school hockey games have been relocated to the Pagel Center at Minnetonka High School.

Big-time Bloggers

Two Minnetonka High School seniors are blogging about the college application progress for The New York Times.

For many writers, seeing their byline attached to the phrase “The New York Times” is a bucket-list dream. However, two Minnetonka High School students are getting that chance.

MHS seniors Abigail Hansen and Rachel Yang were recently chosen to blog for The New York Times online series The Choice, demystifying the college admissions and aid process. Both girls, along with six other high school seniors from across the country, are chronicling the process for the world to see, taking us through the ups and downs of one of the biggest decisions they’ll make in their lives.
