Cooks of Crocus Hill has teamed up with HealthEast Care System to provide cooks of all abilities the tools they need to create delicious and healthy dishes. As much as “gluten-free” and “dairy-free” are showing up on food labels, it’s still a challenge to navigate these special diets. This course can help you learn more. Explore tasty dishes that include flour alternatives and sneaky dairy substitutes. As one of the largest cooperative grocery stores in the Midwest, Lakewinds Food Co-op is the perfect host for this event. Come hungry and ready to have your eyes opened to all of the potential deliciousness. Ages 16 and up. $9. 6–8 p.m.

Sizzle For A Cause--A Sizzling Hot Cooking Competition

Things will heat up as five local chefs from area restaurants compete for the coveted “Golden Cleaver” award. This cooking competition, open to the public, is styled after the TV show “Chopped” and will be judged by local celebrities.

Overcoming Fear Through Courage

Please join us for an inspirational evening sharing the work of Opportunity International as we bring together female executives, leaders, and activists. Hear from Megan Tamte, Co-founder and CEO, Evereve (formerly Hot Mama), and Vicki Escarra, Global CEO, Opportunity International, as they share stories of overcoming their fears through courage. Be motivated by the story of Beathe Iribagiza, a Rwandan survivor of the genocide and expert artisan, who exemplifies the spirit of determination.

Excelsior Girls Night Out: Danc'n in the Street

This fun dance event for all ages features dance performances, dance lessons, costume contest (with prizes) and the opportunity to participate in a flash mob dance. No dance shoes or dance experience required to join in the fun!
