4th of July Flying Pancake Breakfast

Try your hand at catching flying flapjacks on your plates. Hosted by the Lake Minnetonka Children of the American Revolution chapter, your cooks will all be dressed in revolutionary garb to commemorate the origins of our national holiday. And you won’t go hungry, even if your catching skills are a bit sub-par: Breakfast includes sausage, coffee, a cold drink and (of course) a free flag. All ages. $6 per person, free for veterans. 8 a.m.–noon.

Scotland Forever

Whether it’s an inquiry into the unknown or a slight obsession with the Overlander series that prompts your Scottish curiosity, this course will leave you more knowledgeable about the rich history of this fascinating country. Supplementary discussions will cover the clans and castles of Scotland. Ages 55 and up. $28.

Seniors Expo

Celebrate the mature members of our community at Minnetonka’s Seniors Expo. The event will be packed with activities, including fitness demonstrations, health screenings, exhibitors, presentations, prizes and, of course, refreshments. People of all ages welcome. Free. 9 a.m.–1 p.m,.

Make Your Own Mosaic Birdbath

Nothing tells you it’s springtime quite like the return of our favorite summer birds. Lure them (and art lovers) to your backyard with a mosaic made from an upcycled lamp. Learn how to line a terra cotta saucer with broken glass to make a unique design and then hang your masterpiece for the world to see. Bring $20 materials fee to class, plus a lamp base or hanger fittings. For the second class, bring a small covered container and old towels.

Cinco de Mayo

Get international this May with Minnetonka area seniors. Though this Mexican holiday is more celebrated here in the United States, we do know how to throw a party—food and all. So put on your sombreros, turn up your mariachi music and get in the mood to celebrate all things Mexican.
