Nothing tells you it’s springtime quite like the return of our favorite summer birds. Lure them (and art lovers) to your backyard with a mosaic made from an upcycled lamp. Learn how to line a terra cotta saucer with broken glass to make a unique design and then hang your masterpiece for the world to see. Bring $20 materials fee to class, plus a lamp base or hanger fittings. For the second class, bring a small covered container and old towels.
Get international this May with Minnetonka area seniors. Though this Mexican holiday is more celebrated here in the United States, we do know how to throw a party—food and all. So put on your sombreros, turn up your mariachi music and get in the mood to celebrate all things Mexican. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, the historic James J. Hill House is giving a nod to the history of Irish-Americans in Minnesota. Both James Jerome Hill and his wife Mary Theresa Mehegan were of Irish decent, along with many of the household servants. Hear stories of the mansion’s former occupants in themed tours that include Irish songs, organ music and needlework demonstrations.
