State Arbor Month Celebration and Minnesota Tree Climbing Championships

This year the DNR is celebrating Arbor Day and Arbor Month by encouraging families to play in natural settings such as your backyard, a nearby woodlot, or forested area.

The 2014 State Arbor Month Celebration will be at Oak Hill Park in St. Louis Park. The event will give families a chance to play with nature, while watching some of the best tree climbers in the state compete at the Minnesota Tree Climbing Championship.

Summer Arts Camp

The Minnetonka Center for the Arts presents this summer-long day camp program, which offers half-day or full-day programs for children ages 5 to 15. Camps are flexible to fit your family’s schedule and will teach children a variety of artistic skills including drawing, animation, painting, sculpting, theater and knitting. Tanadoona Day Camp

With activities like kayaking, arts and crafts, team sports, rope courses and much more, your child is sure to walk away with a greater appreciation for nature and a host of great memories. Camp Tanadoona offers summer camps, both day and overnight, all summer long. They also offer specialty day camps and northwoods trips to Camp Bluewater in Grand Rapids. Mornings on the Farm

Gale Woods Farm hosts a family event where you can meet animals, do farm chores and participate in other seasonal activities. Easter Egg Hunt

This annual event is a great way to kick off the Easter weekend for your youngsters. Join the community as children run around the Excelsior Commons picking up sweet treats in colorful Easter eggs, hosted by Our Savior Lutheran Church and School. Spring Into Farming

As the weather warms up, get your family outdoors for some farm fun. From seeing farm animals and their babies to playing farm games, there is something for the young and the young at heart. Kids' Art Studio

Help your little Picasso learn more about art. Using high-quality materials and techniques used by professional artists, children will learn to draw, sculpt, collage and more.
