Every year, 2 million students in 48 states participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). Minnesota has become the second-highest participating state with more than 128,000 members, second only to Kentucky, the state to launch the program 10 years ago.
This year, about 90 students were a part of Westonka Public School’s program, 50 of which shot at the state tournament and qualified for nationals. At nationals, Julia Peterson was named one of 2,000 world tournament qualifiers. Julia, a fifth-grader from Grandview Middle School in Mound, will have the opportunity to compete in the world tournament October 6–8 at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
