Dig into Soil!

Ever wonder about the ground beneath your feet? We wouldn’t be here without it! Now you can appreciate the ground in all its glory during a World Soil Day celebration at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s Farm at the Arb. Visit the Tashjian Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on December 5.

Visitors can explore how soils impact us and our world through a myriad of activities for all ages. Come for a special soil themed StoryTime, paint and draw with different soils, dig into sensory bins to feel and smell Minnesota soils, explore soil micro-invertebrates with microscopes and make your own edible soil horizon. You can meet soil experts from the University of Minnesota Extension, learn about their research and ask them your most pressing soil and plant growing questions.
