Just Try It! Let’s Go Sailing

Who’s invited? Visitors curious about sailboats!

Come learn about the different types of sailboats we have at Wayzata Yacht Club (WYC). You’ll get to go out sailing on a boat (if you’d like), learn how to board (embark on) a boat, learn why knots are important and perhaps help hoist a sail, be at the helm and learn a few basic sailing skills.

WYC is primarily a sailboat racing club. But, this event is our exception to the rule — on this day, we help you just learn about sailing in general.

Designated boats and experienced skippers will be on-hand to ensure you have the opportunity to safely try sailing right on the water. Note: you will be required to sign a liability waiver.

Reserve your spot today.

Park in either the West or East parking and look for the “Just try it” signage by the clubhouse. We’ll get you registered and assigned to a boat.

• Bring a water bottle (there is a water fountain) and sunscreen
• Wear non-marking, non-slip or soft-soled shoes or sneakers and clothes you don’t mind getting wet.

We’ll provide life jackets (aka PFD’s).
