This holiday season marks the 20th anniversary of the Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt, which is set for 10 a.m.–7 p.m. November 24, 25 and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. November 26 and is next to the Excelsior Brewery, 421 Third St. The grand opening parade starts at Lake and Water streets.
Inspired by traditional open-air German markets, this year’s market features traditional activities and entertainment with exciting special guests. Making appearances will be Minnesota Vikings legends Chuck Foreman, Carl Eller, Stu Voigt and Tommy Kramer. The market will also host artists and a large number of food and drinks vendors.
The Children’s Lantern Parade will be later on Saturday, a tradition held at many Christkindlmarkts in Europe, followed by a Christmas concert. Father Christmas will be in attendance, along with some special friends—Alaskan reindeer and alpacas.
