Anthony Tucker announces a second Hoop Habits facility opening in Minnetonka this spring.
After over a decade on the court at the professional level, basketball player Anthony Tucker has turned his attention to improving Minnesota’s own basketball programs through Hoop Habits. “The people teaching the game were not always the ones who had lived it at the highest levels,” says the Minnetonka High School alum. “Hoop Habits is trained exclusively by coaches who have played at elite or professional levels because that perspective changes how athletes are taught and prepared. We wanted to create a place where standards are high and development is intentional and continuous.”

Tucker opened the first Hoop Habits facility in Edina in April 2024, offering 6,500 square feet of training space. It quickly gained traction, supporting hundreds of athletes, including players who went on to professional careers in the NBA. Hoop Habits’ rapid growth made it clear there was a need in the local basketball community, and the program now plans to step up its game with the even larger facility.

The new 41,000-square-foot Hoop Habits in Minnetonka will open this spring, offering four full-sized basketball courts and areas for athlete education, performance training and recovery. The second location will allow Hoop Habits to meet student athletes where they’re at in their development and expand the Hoop Habits Academy and Hoop Habits Elite Amateur Athletic Union programs for boys and girls. Along with training, Hoop Habits will provide athletes with training that can benefit them on the collegiate and professional road ahead, including college preparation, financial literacy courses, orthopedic and sports performance services as well as information regarding recruiting and NIL (name, image and likeness).
In addition to the new facility, Hoop Habits is launching a new foundation to assist athletes and their families who face financial barriers that reduce access to high-quality basketball development.
This growth marks another step forward for Hoop Habits as it continues to shape the next generation of Minnesota basketball talent and bolster the local athletic community.
