If the engaged couple wants to take a hands-on approach with their invitations, addressing the envelopes can bring some personalization to the experience. Not everyone has lovely or legible handwriting, but where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Allison Hague teaches calligraphy through Sip & Script, a company that offers calligraphy classes to hobbyists and professionals throughout the country. Hague offers her most popular class, Modern Calligraphy for Beginners, at bars and restaurants throughout the Metro, including Minnetonka. She also books private parties. (Bridal shower activity, anyone?)
Calligraphy provides an opportunity for upgrading not only invitations but gift tags, thank you notes and more. Learning the age-old art starts, naturally, at the beginning. Classes introduce students to a few simple techniques and include everything they’ll need to get started. Students start slowly, and by the end of the glass, they start dabbling in freehand lettering, developing their unique style. With their newfound skills, students can continue their practice. (There are a lot of free script sheets on the Sip & Script website.)
