Minnetonka Theatre celebrates James Cada and Susanne Egli’s longtime involvement in Lake Minnetonka schools.

Minnetonka Theatre kicks off the 2024-2025 season on September 14 with Ernest Thompson’s play, On Golden Pond, starring longtime theater and life partners James Cada and Susanne Egli.

In the play, retirees Ethel and Norman Thayer are visiting their vacation home on Golden Pond when the couple’s tranquility is abruptly broken by the arrival of their daughter, her new boyfriend and his teenaged son. On Golden Pond addresses tense familial relationships and the dynamics between generations with a “bitterly comedic” tone, according to the Minnetonka Theatre.

Cada and Egli have, outside of their acting careers, directed 20 productions at Minnetonka High School as guest artists. Trent Boyum, Minnetonka Theatre’s artistic director, says he is thrilled to celebrate their 2o year commitment to Minnetonka students with their appearance onstage in On Golden Pond.

The production will show at 7:30 p.m. September 14, 21 and 28, and at 2 p.m. September 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29. Tickets are available for purchase at minnetonkatheatre.com and are $32 for adults, $28 for seniors and $15 for youth.
