Live music returns this summer to the Excelsior Commons.
Many of us relish any reason to gather outdoors in the summertime, especially along Lake Minnetonka. The Excelsior Morning Rotary offers another reason, bringing community, food and music to Excelsior Commons since 2018. This summer is no different. Concerts in the Commons bring together people of all ages in a fun way that also helps raise money to support Community for the Commons, working to improve the park. Half of the proceeds also support charitable causes throughout the community.
Starting at 5 p.m., food trucks and beer/wine/seltzers will be available to event goers. Concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. on seven Wednesday evenings from June 3 to August 26. The free concerts end at 8:30 p.m.
This year’s lineup includes: Pandora’s Other Box with the Basement Kings; Fabulous Armadillos Party Band, featuring Chris Hawkey; Rival 5; The Good, The Bad & The Funky; St. Paul & The Minneapolis Funk All Stars (with big connections from the “purple” heyday of electro funk-rock in the Twin Cities); The Suburbs; and Rumours & Dreams (Fleetwood Mac tribute band).
Free shuttle buses from designated parking locations are available to event goers. Watch for more details about shuttle buses, sponsors, vendors and more on the event’s Facebook page (Excelsior Concerts in The Commons).
