Helen Canning and her grandson, Bergen, 4, frequently walk around Mound’s Langdon Lake along the Dakota Rail Regional Trail. “The path around Langdon Lake is our personal playground, and we feel very fortunate it’s in our front yard,” she says.
On this day, the duo paused to enjoy a spot along the trail that spoke to each of them—in different ways. “Initially, I was looking up, enjoying the puffy, white clouds while my grandson had his eyes focused on the ground, looking for worms,” Canning says. “I loved that I could look into the puddle’s reflection and see both up and down and my grandson—all at the same time.”
