Hopkins Center for the Arts will host the reception of a prolific Deephaven artist.
In the wake of artist Christopher Foote’s unexpected passing in 2021, his wife has discovered thousands of paintings, drawings and cartoons that he had done over the years. “Ninety-five percent of them had not been seen by me or anybody else,” Diane Foote says. “They are so prolific that I didn’t want him to have died and not leave a legacy and gain some recognition.”
To this end, Diane invites the public to explore Christopher’s vast body of work at an art show and reception at the Hopkins Center for the Arts on April 26. “I just want [visitors] to be amazed, and I know they will be,” Diane says. Although Christopher was a tireless and dynamic artist, Diane says he never called attention to himself. “Somebody who could create as much in their lifetime as he did, I feel they should be recognized, whether he’s my brother, my husband or a kid down the block,” she says.

Visitors can expect a wide repertoire of artistic genres and styles spanning from advertisements and cartoons to religious works and architectural drawings. “[Christopher] could draw the most fantastical characters,” Diane says. “You couldn’t imagine them. And then he would draw pictures of little children that would just make you tear up because they were so sweet and so sensitive.”
