The new self-led tour includes artists, live music and local businesses.
Eighteen artists will host designated art zones throughout downtown Excelsior for the first-ever Excelsior Art Crawl, which takes place from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. February 7 and 8. “A typical art zone will feature an artist who will be showcasing and selling their art,” event organizer Reese Rucker says. Local boutiques, gift shops and more will share their space with artists specializing in ceramics, fine art, jewelry and musical art performances.
“The local small businesses of downtown Excelsior have been a major part of the [Excelsior] Art Crawl …” Rucker says. “Working with them closely to make this event special has been a huge pleasure.” We asked Rucker to elaborate on what attendees can expect from the event.
What was your inspiration behind founding the Excelsior Art Crawl?
I’ve always been heavily inspired by the special community in Excelsior and wanted to bring together as many small businesses as possible, while also highlighting several local Minnesotan artists as well.
There are three specialty art zones: the family fun, tiny desk-style concert and wellness zones. Can you please provide more details on what each of these entail?
Our family fun zone at Art Rocks Gallery will feature Kulture Klub Collaborative, offering an interactive art making project for attendees … [It will also include] Taste of Excelsior, where Old Southern BBQ, Olive’s Fresh Pizza Bar and Shiki will be donating food samples as part of our fundraiser for local nonprofit WeCAN.
The tiny desk-style concert zone at Excelsior Bay Books is a cozy, acoustic, musical performance for attendees to vibe to while shopping for their favorite books.
The wellness zone at beem Light Sauna will have wellness related vendors like Joyflow yoga, For They Skincare [& Wellness] and more. Joyflow will also be offering a free yoga demonstration for attendees.
