Relive one of music’s greatest jam sessions.
If you need a million dollar idea for getting out with friends and family, head over to the Old Log Theatre for its production of Million Dollar Quartet, which runs through February 17 at the theater, 5185 Meadville St., Excelsior.
Directed by Christine O’Grady Roberts, the musical marks December 4, 1956, when rock ’n’ roll greats Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley came together at Sun Records’ storefront studio in Memphis, Tennessee. It is believed this was the only time that the four legends played together, and it has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.
Performances are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays (general admission); 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 2 p.m. Sundays.
Student rush tickets are $20 and must be purchased the night of performance at the box office with a valid student ID. Small, hand-sized receivers are available for those with hearing loss. Reservations can be made calling the box office. —Renée Stewart-Hester
