Finding the perfect swimsuit has more to do with understanding your own body, and where your curves are, and knowing what you plan on doing in the swimsuit.

Summer is here, which means it’s also swimwear season. Until recently, shopping for swimwear was not a pleasant experience for me. For starters, I had no idea what my body type was or how to find the right fit.

Being a believer in finding the right people for the right job, I sought out professional help. I worked with Jennifer Cermak, owner of Nani Nalu Swimwear. It turns out that they specialize in fitting women with the swimwear best suited for their individual bodies. Plus, they know their products inside and out. This means they know how the fabric will work with your curves.

As women, we are as individual as snowflakes. No one body is exactly the same as another. You think you know your size, but do you really? At Nani Nalu, Cermak showed me how a suit should fit across the different areas of my body.

For me, being able to be active in my swimwear is important. Because I have a larger bust, she put me in pieces that gave me great coverage and support.

This experience completely changed my view of swimwear. I was able to walk out with two suits that I loved. One is a two-piece, something I never thought I would do at almost 50 years of age.

The best part about this experience was realizing that the swimwear needs to fit the woman—not the other way around. Finding the perfect swimsuit has more to do with understanding your own body, and where your curves are, and knowing what you plan on doing in the swimsuit.

I don’t know if it is because I’m old enough to not care, or because I finally found swimwear that works for my body, but I’m ready to hit the beach without a care in the world.
