Are you a food tour first-timer? Make it look easy by following these simple tips and tricks. You’ll thank us later.
Pick the right tour.
Taste of Wayzata tours are priced between $45 and $85, with some routes focusing on alcohol—hello, Happy Hour Tour—and others on history and upscale Lake Street spots. The crowd varies quite a bit between tours, and portions are generous—so study up and be sure you’ll enjoy what you’re paying for.
Skip the stilettos.
Tours run between two- and three-and-a-half hours long, and it’s a mile-ish walk from Hotel Landing to Ferndale Road—each way. It’s flat, but there can be quite of bit of walking involved. In the colder months, the team enlists the help of an executive van or the Lake Minnetonka Trolley to make things easier on guests.
Wear layers.
Tours happen rain or shine, so bring a raincoat or jacket you can add or ditch if it rains or the weather warms up. Umbrellas are provided.
Know what’s included.
A 20 percent gratuity is included in your ticket for all stops. You’ll cover some mixology, history and even cake decorating at times—depending on the day and your mix of stops, which are constantly changing. However, it’s customary—not expected, but appreciated—to tip your guides.
