Celebrate Vietnamese New Year at the Excelsior Library.

This month, welcome the new lunar year—the Year of the Rat, in fact—with a Tét (Vietnamese New Year) party hosted by Hennepin County Library-Excelsior. Attendees will listen to traditional Tét stories, learn how to move like a lion dancer, do some drumming and play holiday games. The library is partnering with Hoang Anh, a Twin Cities group that focuses on traditional Vietnamese dance and choreography. Dancers “promote and preserve” Vietnamese culture through their art, and include lots of young people from around the metro. The party is made possible by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. (If your family celebrates Tét with traditional clothing, you’re encouraged to wear your garb to the party!) Happy new year!
