The Excelsior location has been recognized for going above and beyond.

In October, Kowalski’s Excelsior Market was recognized by the Minnesota Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation (MOHR) with its Direct Support Professionals (DSP) award. DSP awardees are recognized as companies that have made an outstanding effort to support employees with disabilities.

“It gives me great pleasure to recognize these outstanding DSP award winners,” says MOHR president Robin Harkonen. “They represent the best of the best among employees who spend each day working directly to help people have a fulfilled life at the highest level of chosen achievement. They are patient, kind, instructive and have keen sensitivity to human needs.”

The disability employment service provider Opportunity Partners—based out of Minnetonka—nominated the Excelsior Kowalski’s Markets location for the honor. “Our partnership with Kowalski’s Excelsior Market is a powerful example of what happens when a business fully embraces the value that employees of all abilities bring,” says Calli Kadlec, Opportunity Partners vice president of day and employment services. “They provide meaningful work, consistent support and a welcoming environment where the individuals we serve can build real skills and feel part of a community. Their commitment makes a lasting difference.”
