The Gift of Prince

Purple Reign II by Mimi Stuart

Good art is like good music—it is life giving. I love how artist Mimi Stuart captures the gift of what Prince gave to all of us, getting lost in the energy of his performances and touching our soul. Prince Rogers Nelson was the epitome of a true artist, a musical genius and a world icon who was proud of our city and his Minneapolis roots. Gone too soon—but his music lives forever.

Interesting to Know: Stuart utilized energy of subject when creating her work, listening to Prince’s music, pouring all the energy she felt from his catalogue of music onto the canvas. She has a permanent piece of artwork on display at a Smithsonian Institution museum in Washington, D.C.
