by | Aug 2019

A shot of a tree in Freeman Park in Shorewood, which took 2nd place in the Wildlife & Nature category of our 2018 Lens on Lake Minnetonka photo contest.

Photo: Tiffany Schultz

This month, we asked photographer Tiffany Schultz to tell us about “Woods of the Lake,” which received second place in our Wildlife & Nature category.

When and where did you take the photo?
I took this photo in June 2018 in Freeman Park [in] Shorewood. The trails through the woods offer some great photo opportunities all year round.

What kind of camera did you use?
I used a Canon EOS Rebel T7i with an 18-55 mm lens.

What’s your favorite thing about the image?
I just loved how natural it was. I didn’t do anything to manipulate what I saw. I also loved the vibrant green of the ferns against the white of the birch.

What’s your photography background?
I’m a self-taught hobbyist. I’ve been taking photos, mostly of nature, for about 20 years.
