As of May 1, Andrew Gapinski stepped into the director role.

In July 2022, director of the  Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Peter Moe announced his retirement after nearly 50 years with the arboretum. A nationwide search for his replacement commenced, and the arboretum announced his successor in early March 2023.

Andrew Gapinski is well-versed in horticulture and arboretum leadership. Before accepting the director role, Gapinski worked for 10 years at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University in Boston, North America’s oldest arboretum. Before the Arnold Arboretum, Gapinski held administrative and horticultural leadership positions at the Arboretum at Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania, and the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois.

“The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is an exceptional demonstration of the collaborative impact that university-based public gardens can have on bringing together diverse ideas and perspectives from across the communities they serve,” Gapinksi says in a press release. “I am thrilled with the opportunity to return to the Midwest, to work alongside a tremendously talented and dedicated team to envision and build the future of the Arboretum.”

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum offers a wide array of educational and experiential opportunities for visitors. Keep an eye out for our Grow noteworthy column, contributed by the Arb team, where they share everything from gardening tips to special arboretum events.
