The art studio on wheels expands its home visit program.
In December 2022, we highlighted how Ziggy’s Art Bus brings guided art experiences to children in hospice or with life-limiting illnesses. Now, the mobile art studio has expanded its reach through a new home visit program for families in the Minnetonka and Mound-Westonka school districts.
“It’s a challenge to find art activities our child can do and even harder to get there. We love Ziggy’s for making art accessible to all!” says Minnetonka parent Haley Brunelle, mother of Felix.
Ziggy’s Art Bus is the only organization in the U.S. that offers art programs for children in hospice or facing life-threatening conditions with a mobile art studio. The bus travels year-round to five organizations: Children’s Minnesota hospitals in Minneapolis and St. Paul; the Ronald McDonald House on the University of Minnesota campus; HopeKids events throughout the Twin Cities Metro area; Make-A-Wish Foundation of Minnesota in St. Paul; and Crescent Cove Hospice for Kids, Brooklyn Center.
Now, thanks to a generous grant from the Excelsior Morning Rotary Club, Ziggy’s Art Bus is bringing free and accessible art experiences to private homes, as well.
To schedule a volunteer-led, guided art experience, request the delivery of a free art kit for qualifying children or donate and support Ziggy’s Art Bus, visit ziggysartbus.org, or email info@ziggysartbus.org.
